We hold events for our alumni, friends, and the general public for people to connect with the important conversations in leadership.

Subject matter experts and prominent New Zealand leaders share their knowledge and engage with the audience, sparking new ideas and innovation as minds from different backgrounds converge and focus their energy on a salient issue or theme.

Sir Paul Reeves Memorial Lecture 2014

Dairy, Digital And Drones – Innovations Creating Our Future

At this year’s Reeves Lecture Dr Mary Quin shared her thoughts about the future for New Zealand.

“The future must be Dairy, Digital AND Drones – an economy equally balanced between our natural resources sector, our digital and data driven industries, and the companies producing technically sophisticated manufactured goods.”

Despite competition from the televised leaders’ debate, around 200 people gathered in the Sir Paul Reeves Building to hear Dr Quin share her perspectives on the power of inclusiveness and diversity to spark exciting new ideas in business innovation, and why creative leadership in emerging technology businesses is critical for New Zealand’s future.

Under the guidance of MC David Slack the audience engaged in a lively Q&A session with Dr Quin.

The Reeves Lectures, which began in 2012, commemorate Sir Paul Reeves, an outstanding leader and visionary and are designed to provide commentary on New Zealand’s progress as a nation. They are a draw card for thinking New Zealanders wanting to engage in shaping a positive future. Leadership New Zealand organized the Lecture in partnership with Auckland University of Technology and Radio New Zealand.

The Sir Paul and Lady Reeves Scholarship Fund was also launched in 2012 in the loving memory of Sir Paul. This fund enables scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to, take part in Leadership NZ’s leadership programmes.

We believe there should be no unreasonable economic barrier for an individual to participate, and so scholarships are an essential part of ensuring the diversity of participants in our programme.

Leadership NZ and our scholarship recipients would greatly appreciate your support.  You can make an on-line donation here or contact us on 09 309 3749.

If it had not been for a scholarship, Olive Brown may not have been able to participate in the Leadership NZ leadership programme. You can read her story here »
