Changes in Leadership at Pūmanawa Kaiārahi Leadership New Zealand

It has been a week of courageous and transformative leadership for Pūmanawa Kaiārahi Leadership New Zealand, as Anya Satyanand embarks on the next chapter of her life in leadership and passes on the rākau of Chief Executive to our very own Dan Gerrard.

The Board and Team would like to thank Anya Satyanand for her service and leadership over the last two years. Anya’s focus over the last two years has been on growing new programmes, partnerships and collaborative capacity. Over the last two years, the number of programmes that Leadership New Zealand has delivered has increased significantly and several partnerships have been launched including with MBIE and the Auckland City Mission.

“Anya leaves a legacy we can all be proud of and she will be missed. As a Board we wish her the very best and we are excited to see the torch being handed from one alumni to another with this transition,” Judy Nicholl, co-chair of the LNZ board said.

Anya Satyanand said it has been a privilege to lead Leadership New Zealand, the beating heart of leadership in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“We have achieved so much in the last two years, and I am immensely proud of how the team have broken new ground and taken Leadership New Zealand into its next phase of evolutionary development.”

“I am beyond excited that Dan Gerrard is stepping into the role of interim CE to take the organisation forward in its 20th year,” Anya said. “Over the last two years I’ve seen Dan step further into his leadership and commitment to the kaupapa of Leadership New Zealand. I can’t think of a better person to lead the organisation for its next phase.”

“I also want to acknowledge our board who have been unwavering in their commitment to the purpose of our work and the wellbeing of the organisation. I thank them for the support they’ve given me over the last two years.”

Anya has agreed to stay on to support Dan Gerrard as a special advisor over the coming weeks to support the leadership transition.

“It is an honour and a privilege to not only represent the alumni network, but also hold and carry the rākau of all who came before as Programme Directors and Chief Executives,” Dan said.

“I want to thank and acknowledge Anya for holding the rākau through what have been challenging years for Aotearoa and LNZ, and I look forward to leading the organisation into its 20th year—and working with the extremely talented and amazing team that make it all happen in the background.”

As current Programme Director of the NZLP, Dan has demonstrated and ongoing and powerful commitment to our kaupapa, and brings his insights as a visionary in leadership development to the table.

We are looking forward to working with Dan as Chief Executive over the coming year.
